Renaissance art and Arezzo, a well-promising synergy in the Tuscany town which, after the success of the exhibition that ended the 2nd September with Madonna dei Fusi, renews the bonds with the artistic productions of the 1400's becoming a permanent centre for exhibitions, documentation and studies.
The renaissance period saw the blossoming, in Tuscany, of the art workshop, where great artists would instruct young and talented apprentices inside their "labs". This is the case of Cimabue's workshop, where young Giotto completed his training; Filippino Lippi was a student of the famous Botticelli and the same goes for Andrea del Verrocchio who, in his workshop, was teacher to the great genius of Leonardo da Vinci.
The exhibitive trail "Leonardo e dintorni - Il Maestro, le botteghe, il territorio" develops from the value and the importance held by workshops as ateliers in Renaissance art or rather, as training centres for the great artists of the end of the 1400's.

After the great success obtained by the Madonna dei fusi exhibition, which recorded over 90 thousand visitors, the artists return who marked Tuscany renaissance art. An exceptional hereto unknown, the "Portrait of san Donato" (1479) of Andrea del Verrocchio opens the exhibition. A work recognised to the Florentine artist and the model for San Donato's head in the Sacred Conversation of the Pistoia Cathedral.
Around Verrocchio's masterpieces the exhibition is enriched by a cultural artistic trail that recreates the context of the workshops in Tuscany. Di Filippino Lippi (Botticelli's student), with the famous Christ (1495); the Sybille by Bernardino Fungai, student of Perugino; Bartolomeo di Giovanni, eclectic artist who worked with Ghirlandaio and Botticelli.
And to enrich the exhibition, photographic reproductions and newfound studies bring to light the significance of landscape in Leonardo's painting work, as he stayed in the Arezzo area between 1502 and 1506. "Leonardo e dintorni - Il Maestro, le botteghe, il territorio", promoted by the Merchant's association of the Arezzo province, the Municipality and the Arezzo Chamber of Commerce, held at the Priori Palace, in Piazza della Libertà until the 6th January 2002.
