Five Vasari panels restored
Arezzo, the city of the saracin's tournament, is returned some other artistic works of great value. Five panels by Giorgio Vasari have just completed restoring and being exhibited, since the 5th of July, inside the Casa Vasari Museum (a 16th century dwelling the artist had built). San Giorgio and San Paolo, San Donato (in the picture) and Santo Stefano, Assunzione della Vergine, Fede and Fortezza are the five panels that have been through a long and meticulous restoring process to clean off the panels' surface or, as with ĞLa Fedeğ table, intervene on a burn caused by a candle, and in other cases, fix small abrasions.
The restoration, promoted by the Associazione Fiera antiquaria of Arezzo, enables the admiring of five works of great artistic value, from new points of view. In the first place the colours, the chiaroscuros and light and shade patterns; furthermore the work is exhibited in the Sala del Caminetto of Museo Casa Vasari at eye level, an excellent observation point which will enable a careful observation of the panels.
The panels, at the end of the exhibition, the 28th of July, will be placed one more in their original setting on the high altar of the Badia delle sante Flora e Lucilla church.
