Pisa, the city of the Leaning Tower, of the "Bridge" game and of many historical, artistic and cultural marvels is hosting a very interesting initiative, not just for tourists but also for all Pisa residents who have never had the chance to visit their city's monuments and artistic beauties.
"Universalis" started in March 2001 and is promoted by the Municipality of Pisa, Pisa's artistic and historical heritage Superintendence and Pisa's Opera della Primaziale to promote cultural heritage. Universalis is a card that will allow access to ten museums paying the amount of 25 thousand lira, that is a cumulative ticket that costs less than the amount that would result from the sum of entry tickets to all museums.
The ticket can be used within the end of the initiative's period, the 31st of October, on every Museum opening day, making it a more convenient and useable ticket. The single ticket can be bought in each of the museums that join in on the initiative.
"Universalis" allows access to the following Pisa museums and monuments: Santa Maria Assunta Cathedral (weekdays 10.00 am- 5.40 pm; holidays 1.00 pm -5.40 pm); Monumental Camposanto (from 9.00 am to 5.40 pm); Battistero (9.00 am -5.40 pm); Sinopie museum (9.00 am -5.40 pm); Duomo Opera museum (9.00 am -5.20 pm); Santa Maria tower and the walk on the town walls (10.30 am - 6.30 pm); San Matteo National Museum (9.00 am -2.00 pm just weekdays); Palazzo Reale National Museum (weekdays: 9.00 am -7.00 pm; holidays 9.00 -2.00 pm); Santa Maria della Spina church (Tuesdays to Sundays 10.00 am - 2) and Torre Guelfa of the old town (from Tuesday to Sunday 10.00 am -2.00 pm). Opening days and times are for the month of October.
