In the splendid frame of Montecatini Terme's ex thermal spa Tamerici, until the 30th of June there will be a personal exhibition dedicate to Galileo Chini, one of the fathers of art nouveau in Italy, organised by Fabio Benzi, Carlo Sisi, Roberto Giovannelli and Paola Chini Polidori, the granddaughter of the artist.
«Ad vivendum. Galileo Chini: la decorazione in grande nel periodo dell'incanto» was set up inside the ex thermal spa decorated by Chini's ceramics, by the business owned by him «Fornaci di San Lorenzo».
During the exhibition the restoration of the Fonti delle Terme Tamerici will take place. These were decorated by the Florentine artists in 1910, and it will be possible to access them during the working phases which will end in the month of June.
The exhibition held in the province of Pistoia is dedicated to one of Galileo Chini's great decorative projects, an exhibiting itinerary that articulates through decoration panels already exhibited at the «Biennali» of 1907, 1914 and 1920, as well as many previously unseen products created for the Chamber of Commerce in Pisa and the Casa del Contadino in Bologna.
Galileo Chini (1873-1956), a painter, ceramist and scenographer arrived at International acclaim owing to the fresco work he carried out in the hall of the Bangkok throne, commissioned to the artist by the King of Siam. In 1896 he had started the activity of ceramist importing in Italy, for the first time, art nouveau through the handicrafts made in his factory reaching world fame. Also, his knowing Puccini and Benelli led him to set designs, as for the Turandot.
The exhibition is accompanied to a programme of collateral events along which the presence of a delegation from Thailand.
