Chianti Classico «Doge» 1999 - Tenuta di Torciano
Mention Tuscany and you think «Chianti». Its country of origin has become famous throughout the ages all over the world, just owing to this wine and to this date it keeps the prestige of italian oenology high on the international market. In the multiplicity of DOCG «Chianti» productions, the leading product is «Chianti» called «Classico», that is to say the one made on the hills located to south-east of Siena. Typology: D.O.C.G. red wine Area of production: Tuscany First year of production: 1994 Grape varieties: Selected Sangiovese Grosso grapes from vineyards planted over 10 years ago. The vineyards have 3,500 plants per hectare and the double arch training method is used. The vineyards are cultivated in polychrome schist soils at an altitude of 500 a.s.l. Grape harvest time: October The material of fermentation tanks: Steel and wood Bottling time: A year after the grape harvest on November Colour: Deep, clear ruby red tending to garnet with age Bouquet: Intense with a slight aroma of violet Flavour: Harmonious, dry, tasty and slightly tannic, refining to smooth and velvety with time Alcohol content: 11.5% - 12.5% Winemaking techniques: Traditional techniques with ageing in barrels made from oak and other noble types of wood, and in-bottle refining. Serving suggestions: Serve at a temperature of 18 - 20°C, in red wine glasses with a medium sized base and tall stem. Gastronomy: Excellent with all courses of a meal and exceptional with mushroom risotto, roast meat, stewed meat and chestnuts Time of resting: We suggest to drink this wine 1 day after its delivery, in order to let it recover its own organoleptic features
