There was once upon a time…
"A king!" my little readers will instantly, exclaim.
No, children, you are wrong. There was once upon a time a piece of wood.
These are the words with which the most widely read educational novel in the world starts. It is a book narrating the story of a wooden child who, after many adventures, and as in should be in a fairytale, magically becomes a child of flesh and bone: Collodi's Pinocchio.
So the Pinocchio fairytale lives once more on the big screen owing to an actor, the easygoing, but ever ingenious Roberto Benigni, the most qualified actor to interpret and wear Pinocchio's robes.
Also, a Tuscan actor who interprets a fairytale set in Tuscany and written by a Tuscan - Collodi, real name Carlo Lorenzini, was born in Florence in 1826 - could not but choose Tuscany to film the outdoor scenes of the new film.
The news have already been confirmed, an agreement was reached between the production and the Castelfalfi estate to film some of the film's scenes. The movie will be released in Italian cinemas in April: Roberto Benigni's Pinocchio.
And in Castelfalfi, waiting for the rest of the crew, who are finishing off some stuudio scenes in Papigno, Umbria, the set designers are already preparing the sets such as the Campo dei Miracoli. The estate is preparing to welcome over 200, between technicians, set designers, actors and production operators who, for about a month starting at the end of September, will give life, int he little medieval town, to the most widely read fable in the world.
