The countdown has started for Pescia's 26th edition of the Biennial Flower and Plant show, with this year's edition renewed in contents and structure. For more than half a century Pescia's has been one of the most important appointments, in Italy as well as in Europe, for all flower and plant lovers.
Comicent - the large structure where Pescia's flower market is normally held (turnover for the first semester of 2002 was 46 million euro) - will open its gates to the public at 11 o'clock on Saturday 31st of August: visitors will be greeted with 10 thousand square meters of flower sceneries, whereas the space dedicated to garden nurseries and plants will be of 12 thousand square meters, for a total of 50 thousand flowers in vase or cut, and 4 thousand square meters of grassy carpets. The beauty of 281 competitions will be dedicated to the best in flower and garden nursery production.
As well as the great Pescia market stage, organisers have divided the market fair in four different thematic areas: Area Verde with stands by companies specialised in garden furniture, terracotta, garden and balcony creation; Area Rossa: a space reserved for systems and machines for garden nursery and gardening; Area Gialla: dedicated to the hobby area, specialised publishing, tertiary sector and technology; Area Blu: the traditional flower and plant market where there will definitely be some novelties presented for the first time at the Biennale itself. All in all the commercial sector will occupy a space of 8 thousand square meters.
This year, the programme of collateral events sees, among other things, the prize «Fiore d'Oro» to showman Giorgio Panariello (Tuesday 3rd September 5.30 to 9 o'clock), for his work in favour of nature and its beauties, and six conventions on the news and problems tied into flower and garden nursery.
