Saturday 13 April the Circolo Casolese astrofili «Betelgeuse» in Casole d'Elsa (Siena) organises in cooperation with the C.A.A.T. (Coordination of Tuscany’s Amateur Astronomers Association), in the occasion of the 12th «Week of scientific culture », an evening within the program «A spasso tra le stelle».
«Spring sky and constellations», an evening dedicated to the observation of the sky and the unfathomable immensity of space, discovering the majestic and fascinating display of celestial bodies.
Starting at 9.30 am the evening will be dedicated to the observation of the main stars of this season. In the vastness of the vault of heaven you will be able to discover the forms of the planet Jupiter, its satellites and the characteristic «Red Stain», an atmospheric vortex of elliptical shape. Jupiter, the biggest planet of the solar system and known since antiquity for its brightness (it is the fourth brightest object in the sky).
And then the Orion Nebula, one of the most fascinating constellations of the boreal hemisphere; the constellation of Taurus with the Hyades group and the very bright star of Aldebaran and the Pleiades, with masses of young stars and the shiniest star of the heavenly vault: Sirius. And also, natural satellites and Saturn’s ring system and the Summer Triangle.
The meeting point of the evening promoted by the Circolo Casolese astrofili «Betelgeuse» is the parking lot «La Concia» in Casole d'Elsa, participation is free. In case of bad weather the evening will be postponed to a later date, to be defined.
