A container... a month long. This is «Fabbrica Europa», the event designed by «Progetti Toscani Associati» which will be held in the venue of the ex Stazione Leopolda in Florence from 3 to 31 of May.
Born as an international workshop for modern arts, Fabbrica Europa is taking on ever more the role of landmark event for new generation artists, albeit maintaining the features of a movement, of a place to meet and create, as well as exhibiting for the public.
An open work yard which, between workshops and meetings, for a month will fill renaissance Florence with gusts of new air. The title of this edition is «Mito d'Europa e identità contemporanea» and this year, next to the organisers of always, also involved were Fondazione Pontedera Teatro and Music Pool: two essential partners to introduce a programme full of international breadth and high artistic cultural breadth.
For the theatre, as well as the two productions of the «Fondazione Oblomov» (7-8 May) and «Ciò che resta» (17-18 May at nine in the evening) at the Stazione Leopolda the national first performance of the show «Mare's Nest» of the acclaimed London company Station House Opera and that of «Last Supper» of the Centre of Performance Research company: both with a re-edition, specially made for Florence with new videos and installations.
Music to point out, among the many appointments scattered throughout the long trail of the event, opening dj Carl Craig from Detroit techno music, Llorca - the soul man of electronic music - the 11th of May, Daniele Silvestri and Bandabardò the 24th, but also a look to re-elaborations of popular tradition with «Il parto delle nuvole pesanti» (25 May) and the younger and more youthful Meganoidi the 26/5.
Closure is then entrusted to «Un labirinto di suoni», a performance of many artists: Hector Zazou and Bernard Caillaud for the first national performance of «Quadri-chromies» the short film by Giovanni Lindo Ferretti «Intimisto» and the Rosso Tancredi Ensemble with Alfio Antico.
Next to all this also a lot of dancing: from the debut of the Gruppo Junior Balletto di Toscana with choreographies by Claudio Monteverde up to Virgilio Sieni's company. A container full of small and big events, open to creativity and art and, especially, a way to promote Florence to capital of events that look towards the future. For once.
