«Treasures of art and nature», a programme of journeys and visits offered by the cultural association FareArte in the territory of the mountain community Val di Bisenzio to valorise and introduce better some important aspects of the Prato mountains: historical and artistic aspects, as well as natural and gastronomic.
The initiative offers, starting from may and until the end of October, meetings and visits to the discovery of villas and castles, naturalistic trails to introduce the environment and the traditions within the territory of the province of Prato, with the inclusion of gastronomic tastings.
What really makes the initiative truly unique, however, is the extraordinariness of the opening of certain private buildings, normally closed to the public. And in the 2002 edition there are some treats for lovers of art and history: the 16th of June itinerary to the Casone dei Bardi in the Municipality of Vernio; the 30th of June the excursion to the sources of the Bisenzio and Casa delle Barbe in the Municipality of Cantagallo; still in the Municipality of Vernio in Montepiano, a visit to Mulino Saetti and the Badia di Santa Maria the 21st July.
After the summer break, in september, the itineraries start again on Sunday 15th September with the visit to the Pieve di Sant'Ippolito and the Meucci factory in Vernio; the 6th October a visit to the Villa di San Gaudenzio and the medieval village in Svignano. Last 2002 appointment the guided excursion to Villa Vai at the Mulinaccio in the Municipality of Vaiano.
