The service «Tourist Help», started in 1998 to make the use of the city to the tourists who crowd the city easier, as well as for Florentines themselves, has become permanent owing to two mobile locations on eon the Ponte Vecchio and the other between Piazza della Repubblica and via de' Calzaiuoli.
«Tourist help» promoted by the Municipality of Florence in cooperation with the Municipal police until 2001 used to remain active in the months included between Easter and October, the period of greater tourist flow in the Tuscan capital. Seeing the usefulness and the positive feedback of the service the decision was approved to make it permanent.
«Tourist help» are two mobile posts presided by three Municipal police agents who from 9 to 7 pm every day, are of constant help to tourists in the most common languages.
The mobile posts, as well as being a preside against micro criminality and illegal trade, give various types of information to tourists: from simple road directions, to cultural initiative sin museums and events in town.
