Maremma cannot however, always be represented this way; it can also be a land that inspires strange, imaginative and fun short stories, a land that can excite the imagination of writers and photographers until they capture a peculiar aspect of it, which can escape a discreet and less attentive eye. It is from this natural «theatre» that Maremma can be that the publishing collection «I vizi capitali dei maremmani» (The Maremmani’s capital vices), from Fernando Quatraro’s idea, is created, a realistic and sometimes imaginative journey which reveals and tells about the land of Maremma, with sinners and sins.

Working on the creation of the collection were, as well as Ferdinando Quatrato, who wrote the novel «Lust», other well known Maremma writers: Andrea Bastoni, Alfio Cavoli,Giuseppe Celata, Marcello Morante, Armando Schiaffino, Giorgio Zorcù and Carlo Bonazza, a professional photographer from Grosseto. The collection collects in seven volumes, each dedicated to one of the sins, the seven capital vices: pride, envy, lust, avarice, anger, sloth and gluttony, with humorous and sometimes peculiar anecdotes, tales and short stories. The first four volumes of the collection, «Pride», «Envy», «Lust» and «Avarice» have already been published by the Effequ publishing house.

Alfio Cavoli, a great author of publications on nature, history, the environemtnand the archeaology of Maremma, writes on Pride. Envy is told to us by Marcello Morante, Roman born, but from Grosseto by adoption. Armando Schiaffino tells us of «his» Giglio island about the vice of avarice, recalling popular anecdotes tied with this capital sin, but especially tied in with his land. Fernando Quatraro, as well as being the idea behind the collection, has also written the volume «Lust». Soon  the volume «Anger», written by Giuseppe Celata will be published; Giorgio Zorcù, a producer and Theatre scholar will tells us about «Sloth» and finally Andrea Bastogi will tackle the vice of gluttony.
