   Pistoia blues (and other colours)
Twenty three years of age but it doesn't show: Pistoia Blues, the musical event which is held in piazza Duomo every summer, reaches its 2002 edition with renewed verve. By all means though the blues promised by the title is just a part of the programme, but just like every year the event promises three days of high level performances with bands and stars of International calibre.
In the 2002 edition, for the first time new stages will be set up to enable the contemporary holding of various events in the various time slots, with first-rate artists and various performances.

Robben Ford, a well known Californian guitarist, will open the festival on the 12th July at 8 pm. It may be because he started his career very young, he can boast album collaborations with Miles Davis, the Kiss, Burt Bacharach, Muddy Waters and uncountable other names.

The same evening at 9.30 pm, their only date for the centre and south Italy, in piazza Duomo the Dream Theater, also from California, will be playing. Little blues and a lot of rock for this band which counts, in Italy and in the world, many fans.

The same evening at the Fortezza the participation of 3 International level blues bands is expected, with surprise final session.

The 13th the scene of piazza Duomo is on the other hand all for Buddy Guy. A true legend of the blues. A great blues guitarist of the 60's, Buddy Guy still remains an unrenounceable point of reference on the International music scene. Back, after years of absence from the Pistoia Blues, also The Blues Brothers band with Eddie Floyd and Danny Gottlieb on drums.

For the 14th of July, finally, an almost certain participation by Bob Weir and the Ratdog; their line-up: Bob Weir, Rob Wasserman, Jay Lane, Jeff Chimenti, Mark Karan, Kenny Brooks: a  "super band" for a great tribute to the legendary music of the Grateful Dead. And then a great return on the Pistoia stage, once more the guitar notes of Mr. B.B. King will overwhelm the square in the historical centre possibly, as backstage rumours suggest, for the last time in Italy with his 2002 tour.
