In the harmonious ups and downs of the Valdarno, Valdichiana, Montevarchi hills and the high naturalistic value area of the Casentino, the wine route «Terre di Arezzo» winds its way for over 200 kilometres.
An area with strong wine vocation which every year produces DOC, DOCG and IGT recognised wines: Chianti, Chianti colli aretini, Colli Etruria Centrale, Valdichiana, Cortona and Vinsanto del Chianti.
And like each wine route that can call itself that, also «Terre di Arezzo», with its 200 kilometres winds through trails and itineraries of highly artistic, historical, cultural and landscape interest. Five routes, each highlighting a characteristic of the territory in which the oenological trail extends.
A first itinerary meanders from San Giovanni Valdarno, Masaccio's birth town, through the surprising and incredible nature of Cavriglia and the medieval castles and villages of Pieve Petrolo and Torre di Galatrona.
A second itinerary leads you to the discovery of the vineyards and the fortifications of the area comprised between the municipalities of Pergine Valdarno and Civitella Valdichiana: the ancient Ruoti abbey, the Centina castle and the enchanted villages of Sogna and Rapalle.
«La via Montebenichi» an itinerary among castles and vineyards discovering countryside landscapes which still appear untouched, holiday stays and farms.
And also a itinerary through the new DOC recognised by the wine route «Terre di Arezzo», in Valdichiana, until reaching Cortona or going back up through Arezzo to arrive at Castiglion Fiorentino. And finally the itinerary that from Arezzo enters into the Casentino, in the National Park, climbing up the Arno valley discovering the lush nature and fauna inhabiting the territory.
