It would seem impossible, but even a job as traditional as that of the truffle seeker needs to adapt to outside changes so as to better exploit synergies present on the territory.

So it is that the San Miniato Municipality has promoted a project for the development of the self employment in the sector of picking and trading of the white truffle, in association with the Agenzia formativa Empolese Valdelsa, the municipality of S. Giovanni d'Asso, the Associazione Tartufai delle Colline Sanminiatesi, the Cna of the Province of Pisa and the Società Strategie of Pisa.

The aim of the whole project is that of having emerge and provide visibility tools for the fragmented and submerged galaxy of the truffle seekers, scattered around the whole Tuscany territory.

The initiative becomes more important since the truffle that is found in the San Miniato area is prized, but less known than that of other areas and there is the need of promoting the knowledge of real truffle, which is by now under siege by the trading of other products obtain chemically or other species of certainly lower level, coming from European and extra European countries.

The project thus rotates over a number of courses, some of which through distance learning, which mean to form the personnel that will attend to the whole cycle of territory maintenance, product search and its trading and working, therefore capable of finding and reselling the product also directly, using the new technologies and in particular the e-commerce since the end market is a global market.

Basically, the project creators expect, in the first place, the setting up of a permanent network between public and private subjects, that will dialogue within itself and offer its services, also on line, to end consumers, as well as intermediate and companies set up in the course of setting up.
