Summer or winter, spring and summer, every season is suitable for Versilia, be you young or not, a stop in the most famous Riviera of Italy since the times of the Belle Époque is a must.
And then?
You just have to choose. Yes, because Versilia is not just summer sea: behind the multicoloured organised beaches that pinpoint the coast, you will in fact discover a heritage of art and culture, but also fun and sport.
And when we speak of Versilia we speak of the coast part, in the province of Lucca, which extends from Forte dei Marmi, commonly called il Forte, passing through Marina di Pietrasanta, Lido di Camaiore, Viareggio until Torre del Lago and it expands into the municipalities of Seravezza and Stazzema.
But it is the sea that attracts so many Italian and foreign tourists. The whole coastline is equipped with organised beaches that offer a service characterised by traditional Tuscany welcome and by all the comforts you might request during a holiday.
This coastline, at the beginning of the nineties, was given (and it maintained it throughout the years) the Blue Flag for the quality of the water. Even if sometimes, perhaps in relation to the closeness of the sea outlets of the rivers Arno and Serchio, and depending on the current flows, the sea may not appear to be completely clean. But don’t worry, it’s the perfect opportunity to go for a bike ride in Pietrasanta’s pinewood or for a stroll along the famous Viareggio promenade.
