Floriade 2002, the world horticulture expo held every ten years in Holland, will be speaking Tuscan, more exactly, Pistoia dialect.
Tuscany is the sole Italian representation and Apet and Tuscany Region have entrusted the Province of Pistoia with the planning if the space made available by the organisation and the coordination of workshops and events tied into the show.
The 2002 edition will be opened on the 5th of April at the presence of the Queen of Holland and it will end the 20th October in Haarlemmermeer, near Amsterdam's international airport.
The show will be including all the sectors of horticulture: from plants to flowers, from vegetables to fruits, arriving from all parts of the world in an enchanted valley depicted by various exhibitors. The fifth edition of Floriade, for which more than three million people from all over the world are expected to arrive, with an estimate presence of almost 200 thousand merchants of the horticulture sector in a 65 hectares park.
Pistoia's nursery gardeners will follow the setting up of a space of 500 sqm in which the typical and varied Tuscan landscape will be recreated also combining the history which is strongly rooted in the region. A long road paved in Tuscan «cotto», with rows of citrus plants in vase and at the end an Etruscan tumulus. Around, the typical woods of the Tuscan hills and the Mediterranean bush with cypresses, olive trees but also walnuts, cherries and maples.
