The designers of Insomnia in Ponsacco (Pisa) self-define themselves «centre of energy » and actually since it was founded in 1992, the «discoacropolis of Italy » gives away electronic, house and progressive music nights, to its late-night revellers who by now come from all over Italy.
Mind and maker of Insomnia’s success is its artistic director and shareholder Antonio Velasquez, whom during the years has launched and was the producer of the greatest music exponents of Italian progressive music (Francesco Farfa, Mario Più, Ricky Le Roy just to quote a few).
Since September 2000 Insomnia had started to offer a new trend, with hard house music which is circulated in the renewed privé Penelope XL extralarge. In the Patchwork place the true techno is on the offer, heard at the Love Parade in Berlin, with dj of the calibre of Francesco Zappalà and dj Cirillo (Cocoricò from Riccione), only real Italian exponent in techno music world events.
But for 2 years the resourceful Antonio Velasquez (also actor with the theatre company L'Ombra di Peter, also got enraptured by the magical world of internet, activating a number of collaborations which have permitted him to put online a web site that fully reflects the vocation of the Insomnia, with live in streaming audio and video of the evenings and many other services.
To reach the discoacropolis of Italy you have to reach the superstrada Firenze-Pisa-Livorno and exit at Ponsacco Pontedera, then continue for a few kilometres towards Ponsacco.
