Versilia by day is sea and sun, fun on the beach and walks in the pinewood, but at night the sparks of crazy things turn on; the venues and clubs long the sea promenades from Viareggio to the Forte welcome young and not so young, lovers of music and show business.
Every year new gathering spots open up following the fashion of the moment. And in all this jungle of venues, one only can keep its style unchanged for over 70 years, the symbol club of the Versilia, the Capannina di Franceschi (tel. 0584 80169) in Forte dei Marmi.
La Capannina historically is born in 1929, a year in which the owner Achille Franceschi bought a small cottage on the sea (for a thousand lira, it is said) and built the club in it. And the Capannina has always been the meeting point for mundane society, it is not unlikely to meet VIPs who are staying in Versilia for their holidays. After all it is difficult for anybody to resist the unchanging charm of a venue which, as well as music and cocktails, offers a classy service.
